The Position: We are seeking a Mechanical & Piping Senior Designer to strengthen our growing engineering and design consultancy. This role is ideal for an experienced professional designer who brings deep technical expertise, particularly in Process Piping systems in both Brownfield and Greenfield environments and can provide disciplined leadership across a diverse portfolio of industrial and energy projects.

As a senior member of the team, you will lead key technical decisions, oversee complex piping design scopes, mentor junior members of the team, and represent the Mechanical and Piping discipline in high-impact client, contractor, and vendor engagements.

Some of the main responsibilities will include:

  • Lead the production, review and approval of Piping design documents including Isometrics, Material Take-offs, Plot Plans, and Detailed Drawings using Aveva E3D, Plant3D, and Navisworks Manage.
  • Provide input to project schedules, working closely with the project management team throughout the course of a project.
  • Review incoming vendor information and client's technical standards alongside our Mechanical Engineers.
  • Support with defining scope, deliverables and resource requirements for piping design packages, providing accurate input to risk identification and change management.
  • Represent the Mechanical and Piping discipline in client meetings and technical discussions, resolving complex design queries and coordinating with vendors and contractors to ensure technical integrity.
  • Work closely with other engineering disciplines to deliver integrated, high-quality project solutions, providing checking of multi-disciplinary deliverables where required.
  • Lead 3D 30%, 60% and 90% model reviews gathering input from client SMEs.
  • Distribute work packages efficiently to more junior members of the project team.
  • Mentor and develop engineers and apprentices, promoting a culture of engineering excellence, quality and continuous improvement across the team.

What We’re Looking For: The successful applicant will lead technically challenging, high-impact projects while playing a key part in shaping and enhancing the capability of the Mechanical and Piping discipline. If you are an experienced mechanical designer ready to step into a Senior-level role - or already operating at Senior level and seeking greater technical influence and responsibility - we would welcome your application.

Preferred Profile:

  • A minimum of a HNC in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent relevant industry experience.
  • Experience delivering detailed piping design within industrial, energy or infrastructure sectors, with strong working knowledge of ASME B31.3 Standards is preferred.
  • Proven ability to lead project design scopes, coordinate multidisciplinary engineering activities and engage confidently with clients, vendors and senior stakeholders.
  • Demonstrated experience guiding and mentoring junior and mid-level engineers, supporting their technical development.
  • Experience interpreting and explaining Static and Rotating equipment drawings and design.

Please note many of our UK projects require high-level security clearance meaning that visa sponsorship is not guaranteed and is assessed on a case-by-case basis, depending on role criticality and project needs.

Remuneration & Benefits: We offer a competitive salary tailored to your experience and background.
