As the Mechanical & Piping Lead Engineer, you will oversee mechanical and piping scope on projects, working closely with the Technical Authority, Engineering Manager, project managers, clients and other discipline leads. You will manage engineering deliverables from concept and feasibility through FEED and detailed design, ensuring robust definition aligned with project requirements and industry standards. You will also support discipline planning and resource allocation, helping ensure the right capability is deployed to the right projects at the right time.
Some of the main responsibilities of Lead Mechanical & Piping Engineer will include:
- Lead our mechanical and piping (M&P) engineering capability and personnel across multiple projects.
- Coordinate multidisciplinary design and technical interfaces whilst developing mechanical and piping design deliverables across the full lifecycle (Concept, Feasibility, FEED, Detailed Design).
- Oversee layout development, routing and mechanical equipment arrangements.
- Collaborate with M&P Technical Authority and Engineering Manager to maintain technical standards.
- Review and check technical deliverables, raising technical queries as required.
- Responsible for functional development; assisting with capability growth, onboarding and mentoring of new team members, as well as providing coaching & guidance to our mechanical and piping engineers.
- Contribute to continuous improvement of tools, processes and templates.
- Support proposals, estimates and design planning inputs.
Preferred Profile:
We are looking for individuals who can bring the following skills and experience:
- Experience of leading mechanical and/or piping deliverables in an EPC project environment, ideally from an engineering and design consultancy setting.
- Have previously delivered design packages across Concept, FEED and Detailed Design for Oil & Gas, Energy, COMAH, Industrial, or similar projects.
- Strong understanding of piping layout, routing and modelling with knowledge of relevant codes, standards and industry practices.
- Comfortable coordinating with multidisciplinary design teams, and confident engaging with EPC contractors & owners / operators.
- Brownfield or modification project exposure is an advantage.
- Ideally, a Chartered Engineer or working towards (IMechE ideal).
- Reside locally to Pembrokeshire or be prepared to relocate, as this permanent role does not include travel expense coverage.
