The Physical Security Technology Intermediate Engineer will utilize specialized knowledge to support the deployment, integration, maintenance, and upgrading of physical security systems. In collaboration with the Managing Director of Security Technology and Security Consulting team, the Intermediate Engineer will interact extensively with clients, providing a combination of hands-on system support along with infrastructure coordination, emphasizing network communication, firewall flow validation, and system health monitoring. The Intermediate Engineer will be expected to have technical involvement in client systems, installing and configuring security system applications and setting up and troubleshooting the endpoint devices that connect to them. When necessary, the Intermediate Engineer will carry out directions from Senior Engineers to facilitate software upgrades, security patches, and manage software licenses. The engineer will also need to collaborate with various client IT/network teams to ensure proper network segmentation, device communication, and firewall rule implementation.
Suitable candidates will have relevant experience in a professional service or corporate setting or with a security technology integrator and be willing to work independently at client sites with direction. This position is based in the United Kingdom. Candidates must be located in the UK and have authorization to work there. This position offers a hybrid schedule, allowing remote work part of the week while also collaborating in person at our London office. Must be able to travel to the United States or elsewhere in the EMEA on occasion, as necessary. This is a Physical Security position not an Information Security position.
Key Responsibilities:- Install and configure security applications, such as Genetec Security Center and its associated components.
- Collaborate with client IT and Network teams to ensure that security system components can communicate across the network.
- Audit PACS and VMS applications for common misconfigurations and mismanagement.
- Set up and troubleshoot IP cameras, access control panels, and other networked security peripherals.
- Monitor client security systems for health alerts.
- Assist in diagnosing connectivity issues caused by blocked or misrouted traffic.
- Support the application functions of security systems running on windows-based servers and clients.
- Maintain accurate documentation of system architecture, IP addressing, and device inventory.
- Respond to escalated client support tickets, opening requests with product vendors when required.
- Assist the Managing Director in handling ad-hoc security technology requests and projects as required.
- Adjust camera settings, door settings, and system schedules based on client requirements.
- A Bachelor's degree in a relevant course of study.
- At least three years of relevant experience in building and configuring physical security technology systems.
- Must have superior problem-solving skills and the ability to think outside the box.
- Understanding of firewall rules, access control lists, and network traffic flow analysis.
- Experience using common security technology applications such as Genetec Security Center, Milestone XProtect, Honeywell Pro-Watch, Brivo, Eagle Eye, OpenEye, Exacqvision, Lenel, CCURE.
- Familiarity working in Windows Server Environments.
- Familiarity working in virtualized and nested environments.
- Must have the ability to communicate clearly in writing, orally, and the ability to communicate across all levels including a comfort level with senior level management and key decision makers.
- Self-motivated individuals with a strong commitment to provide outstanding services for clients.
- Honesty and integrity are essential. Must be able to pass a comprehensive background investigation.
- Experience with Application Engineering, Platforms Engineering, Network Engineering, and SQL Engineering.
- Experience in integrating physical security technology with broader organizational IT frameworks.
- Familiarity with cybersecurity practices related to physical security technology.
- Experience managing multi-location or enterprise-level security systems.
- Experience with vendor certifications.
- Experience working in cloud environments (both Azure and AWS).
- CompTIA, Cisco, or Microsoft certifications.
