Tax Disputes Manager London | Hybrid Working Available Boutique Tax Investigations Firm A specialist boutique tax investigations and disputes firm based in London is seeking an experienced Tax Disputes Manager to join its growing team.
This is an excellent opportunity for a tax investigations specialist to join a highly regarded firm working on complex and interesting HMRC disputes, with significant client exposure and the chance to play a key role in the business's continued growth.
The successful candidate will manage a portfolio of high-value and technically complex tax investigations, advising clients throughout the enquiry process and developing effective strategies to achieve successful resolutions.
Key Responsibilities Managing complex HMRC tax investigations from initial enquiry through to settlement.
Leading HMRC Code of Practice 8 (COP8) and Code of Practice 9 (COP9) investigations .
Advising clients on disclosures, information requests, settlement negotiations, penalties, and compliance issues.
Liaising directly with HMRC investigators and negotiating outcomes.
Drafting technical correspondence, reports, and submissions.
Building strong relationships with clients, intermediaries, and professional advisers.
Supporting the wider team with technical expertise and contributing to the firm's continued growth.
Requirements Strong experience in UK tax investigations and dispute resolution.
Demonstrable COP8 and COP9 experience is essential.
Proven ability to manage investigations independently and deal directly with HMRC.
Excellent technical understanding of tax enquiries, disclosures, settlements, and HMRC procedures.
Strong communication skills with the ability to explain complex issues clearly to clients.
Desirable Experience Previous experience working for HMRC , particularly within specialist investigations, Fraud Investigation Service (FIS), or compliance teams, is highly desirable but not essential.
Professional qualification (CTA, ACA, ACCA or equivalent) would be advantageous.
Experience advising high-net-worth individuals, business owners, partnerships, trusts, or privately owned companies.
