A well-established Accountancy Practice is looking to appoint a Payroll Advisor to join its growing team. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced payroll professional who enjoys managing client relationships, taking ownership of their workload, and working within a supportive environment where development is genuinely encouraged. Based in St. Albans, this hybrid position offers the chance to work with a varied portfolio of clients while building your expertise within a highly regarded firm.
As a Payroll Advisor, you'll be responsible for delivering accurate payroll services across a range of client accounts, acting as a trusted point of contact and ensuring an exceptional level of service.
The RoleThe successful Payroll Advisor will take ownership of a portfolio of payroll clients and be responsible for:
- Processing weekly, fortnightly and monthly payrolls from start to finish
- Managing starters, leavers, statutory payments and pension auto-enrolment
- Submitting RTI filings and liaising with HMRC when required
- Handling payroll queries and building strong client relationships
- Ensuring compliance with current payroll legislation and regulations
- Processing high-volume payroll data accurately and efficiently
- Supporting year-end payroll activities including P60s and reconciliations
- Working with payroll systems such as IRIS Payroll Professional or similar software
- At least 2 years' payroll experience within a bureau, practice or client-facing payroll environment
- Strong knowledge of UK payroll legislation, RTI and auto-enrolment
- Experience managing multiple payrolls simultaneously
- Confident communicator with strong client service skills
- Good Excel and payroll systems knowledge
- Ability to work independently and manage deadlines effectively
- Experience within an accountancy practice or payroll bureau would be particularly beneficial
- CIPP qualification welcomed but not essential
- Salary of £30,000 to £35,000
