Ready to make your mark?

This isn't just another Tax Director position.

An established and ambitious accountancy practice is looking for a Tax Director to play a key role in the continued growth of its Manchester office, with a particular focus on owner-managed businesses, entrepreneurs and privately owned groups.

This is an opportunity for a senior tax professional who wants more than simply managing a portfolio.

You'll have the opportunity to become a trusted adviser to ambitious business owners, develop long-standing relationships and help shape the firm's tax offering in Manchester.

If you're commercially minded, enjoy being close to your clients and want the freedom to develop your own network and ideas, this could be a very strong next move.

What will you be doing?

You'll take the lead on a varied portfolio of successful OMBs, entrepreneurs and privately owned businesses, providing high-quality tax advice while identifying opportunities to add genuine commercial value.

Your role will include

  • Acting as a trusted adviser to business owners, shareholders and senior management.
  • Leading corporate tax advisory and compliance engagements.
  • Advising on acquisitions, disposals, restructures and group reorganisations.
  • Supporting clients with succession planning and exit strategies.
  • Advising shareholders and directors on tax-efficient remuneration and extraction.
  • Providing practical advice around business growth and changing ownership structures.
  • Working closely with accounts, audit and wider advisory teams to deliver joined-up solutions.
  • Reviewing complex corporation tax computations and returns.
  • Developing existing client relationships and identifying opportunities for additional services.
  • Building relationships with new clients and helping grow your own network.
  • Mentoring and developing the next generation of tax professionals.
  • Playing an active role in shaping the continued growth of the Manchester tax team.
  • The clients

This is a role for someone who enjoys working with people as much as they enjoy working with tax.

You'll work closely with ambitious business owners, entrepreneurs, shareholders and privately owned groups, getting under the skin of their businesses and understanding what they're trying to achieve.

The work will span areas such as

Corporate Tax | Tax Planning | M&A | Restructuring | Succession Planning | Business Sales | Shareholder Tax | Group Reorganisations | CGT | Remuneration Planning

The emphasis is firmly on advice rather than simply compliance.

Who are we looking for?

You could currently be a Corporate Tax Senior Manager, Tax Director or an ambitious Manager ready to take the next step.

We're looking for someone who

  • Is ACA, CTA or similarly qualified.
  • Has strong experience within UK accountancy practice.
  • Has a proven background advising owner-managed businesses and entrepreneurs.
  • Is comfortable dealing directly with business owners and senior stakeholders.
  • Has strong corporate tax technical knowledge.
  • Enjoys advisory work and solving commercial problems.
  • Can identify opportunities and develop client relationships.
  • Is confident contributing to business development and networking.
  • Enjoys mentoring and developing others.
  • Wants to have a genuine influence on the growth of a Manchester tax team.

Most importantly, we're looking for someone with commercial curiosity - someone who wants to understand a client's ambitions and find the right tax solution, rather than simply tell them what the legislation says.

Why this role?

Influence. Autonomy. Opportunity.

You'll have the chance to join an established practice while still having the freedom to make your mark.

You'll be given the platform to

  • Build and develop your own client relationships.
  • Work with ambitious OMBs and entrepreneurs.
  • Grow your own network and generate new opportunities.
  • Develop the Manchester tax offering.
  • Work alongside experienced professionals across the wider practice.
  • Develop and mentor a growing team.
  • Progress your career within a firm that values commercial thinking and client relationships.
  • The package

£80,000 - £100,000, depending on experience, plus a competitive benefits package.

Interested?

If you're an experienced tax professional who enjoys working with entrepreneurs, advising business owners and winning work, we'd love to hear from you.
