My client, an outstanding accounting & business advisory firm, who are continuing an impressive period of growth is seeking an experienced Accounts & Business Services Senior Manager to join its growing team. This opportunity is ideally suited to an established Manager looking to take the next step in their career, or an existing Senior Manager seeking a broader role with increased client responsibility, leadership exposure and progression potential. The firm works with an impressive portfolio of owner-managed businesses, SMEs, entrepreneurial groups and international clients across a broad range of sectors. The successful individual will play a key role in managing a substantial client portfolio, developing junior team members and supporting the continued growth of the department. This is a highly visible position offering genuine autonomy, strong Partner interaction and a clear route for future progression.

The Role

The successful candidate will take responsibility for managing a varied portfolio of clients, acting as a key point of contact and trusted adviser across accounts, business advisory and wider compliance matters. You will oversee the delivery of statutory accounts and related business services work, whilst supporting workflow management, team development and commercial growth initiatives within the department. The role will involve both managing existing client relationships and identifying opportunities to broaden service offerings across the wider firm.

Key Responsibilities

  • Managing a diverse portfolio of owner-managed businesses, SMEs and group companies across a range of sectors
  • Reviewing statutory accounts prepared under FRS102 and UK GAAP
  • Acting as the primary contact for clients, providing commercial and technical advice
  • Managing workflow, resource planning and deadlines across the team
  • Supporting Partners and Directors with portfolio development and strategic growth initiatives
  • Identifying opportunities for additional advisory and cross-service work
  • Supervising, mentoring and developing Managers, Seniors and junior staff
  • Reviewing assignments and ensuring high technical and compliance standards
  • Building and maintaining long-term client relationships
  • Supporting business development activities, networking and proposal work where appropriate
  • Taking an active role in improving internal processes and operational efficiencies

Requirements

  • ACA / ACCA qualified (or equivalent)
  • Strong experience within an accountancy practice environment
  • Proven experience managing a portfolio of clients independently
  • Previous experience operating at Manager or Senior Manager level within Accounts & Business Services / Business Advisory
  • Strong technical knowledge of UK GAAP and statutory accounts preparation
  • Excellent client relationship management and communication skills
  • Experience managing and developing teams
  • Commercially aware with a proactive and solutions-focused approach
  • Experience working with entrepreneurial and SME clients would be advantageous
