A leading Big 4 accountancy firm is looking to appoint a Senior Tax Investigations Manager into its established tax disputes team, working across corporate tax investigations, HMRC enquiries and private wealth matters. This is a particularly good opportunity for someone who wants autonomy, flexibility and proper Partner exposure, while also learning how to develop work through an impressive internal client network.

Less 'go and sell to strangers', more 'build relationships across a serious platform', which is generally how humans prefer to operate. Based Nationwide, the role offers hybrid working, a high-trust culture and the chance to develop both technically and commercially within a major accountancy firm.

What you'll be doing

  • Leading HMRC enquiries, tax investigations and complex disclosure matters
  • Advising corporates, entrepreneurs and private wealth clients on disputes strategy
  • Acting as a senior point of contact for clients, HMRC and internal teams
  • Working directly with a highly regarded Partner on complex advisory work
  • Building relationships across the firm to generate referrals and develop BD skills
  • Reviewing reports, correspondence and settlement positions
  • Supporting and mentoring Managers and junior team members

What we're looking for

  • Strong experience in tax investigations, tax disputes or HMRC enquiry work
  • Background in accountancy, specialist tax advisory, legal tax disputes or HMRC
  • Experience across corporates, OMBs, HNW individuals or private wealth clients
  • Confidence managing client relationships and influencing senior stakeholders
  • CTA, ACA, ACCA, ATT or former HMRC experience would be highly relevant

What's on offer

  • Salary up to £95,000
  • Highly flexible hybrid working across Nationwide
  • Direct reporting line into an impressive Partner
  • Real autonomy in a high-trust environment
  • Strong internal client network to help develop business development experience
  • Clear progression within a major public practice firm

This Senior Tax Investigations Manager role would suit someone who wants more ownership, better flexibility and the chance to build a broader commercial profile. If you're looking for a more autonomous move in tax investigations, this Senior Tax Investigations Manager position offers the platform without the pointless corporate theatre.
