Job Description

Audit & Accounts Manager

Are you looking for a role where you can take ownership of a varied portfolio, work closely with clients and play a meaningful part in developing a growing practice team? This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced Audit & Accounts Manager to join a well-established professional services business in Harrow, with a salary of £55,000-£65,000 depending on experience.

The firm has built a strong reputation for providing practical advice and long-term support to a diverse client base. This is a people-focused environment where technical ability is valued, but so are relationships, commercial understanding and the ability to help develop those around you.

The Role

As Audit & Accounts Manager, you will manage a portfolio of owner-managed businesses and corporate clients, overseeing accounts and audit assignments from planning through to completion. You will have a good level of autonomy while working alongside senior colleagues and supporting more junior members of the team.

The role would suit someone who enjoys variety and wants to combine technical accounting and audit work with client management, mentoring and opportunities for progression.

What you'll be doing

  • Managing a varied portfolio of clients across accounts, audit and general practice services
  • Planning and overseeing audit assignments, ensuring work is delivered efficiently and to a high standard
  • Reviewing statutory accounts and corporation tax computations
  • Preparing and reviewing financial statements in line with relevant UK accounting standards
  • Acting as a key point of contact for clients and developing strong, trusted relationships
  • Identifying opportunities to improve processes and provide additional value to clients
  • Reviewing work produced by junior and semi-senior team members
  • Coaching and supporting colleagues to help strengthen technical capability
  • Managing deadlines across multiple assignments and maintaining strong workflow control
  • Working closely with partners and senior management on more complex client matters

What we're looking for

You'll ideally have experience gained within accountancy practice and be confident managing a portfolio with limited supervision.

We're particularly interested in candidates who can demonstrate:

  • Strong experience across accounts preparation and audit
  • Previous experience working within an accountancy practice environment
  • ACA, ACCA or equivalent qualification, or significant relevant experience
  • The ability to manage client relationships confidently and professionally
  • Experience reviewing accounts and supervising or mentoring junior staff
  • Good knowledge of UK accounting standards and audit requirements
  • Strong communication and organisational skills
  • A commercially minded approach and the confidence to engage with business owners and senior stakeholders

Experience with a broad range of SME and owner-managed clients would be highly advantageous.

What's on offer

  • £55,000-£65,000 salary, dependent on experience
  • Permanent, full-time position
  • A varied client portfolio offering genuine technical exposure
  • Supportive and collaborative working environment
  • Opportunities to develop your leadership and client management responsibilities
  • Ongoing professional development and career progression
  • Strong work-life balance within an established accountancy business
  • Harrow location with good transport links
