This is a broad opportunity for an experienced In House Tax Manager to take ownership of tax across an established international FMCG business.
Based in Cheltenham, you will work closely with senior finance leadership, oversee the wider tax framework and help strengthen reporting, controls and governance across several jurisdictions.
The opportunity
The In House Tax Manager will lead tax compliance and reporting activity, manage external adviser relationships and provide commercially practical guidance across finance and the wider organisation.
You will also manage one direct report, act as a key contact for tax authorities and support wider process improvement work within a growing FMCG environment.
- What you'll be doing
- Taking ownership of tax compliance across the group's UK and international operations
- Overseeing indirect tax returns prepared by external advisers
- Reviewing corporation tax provisions, disclosures and reporting requirements
- Managing and developing a direct report focused on corporate tax matters
- Acting as a key point of contact for HMRC and overseas tax authorities
- Supporting transfer pricing policies and documentation
- Identifying tax risks and implementing appropriate controls
- Managing adviser relationships, service levels and costs
- Providing clear tax guidance to finance and operational stakeholders
- Supporting wider finance transformation and process improvement projects
What we're looking for
- CTA qualification or an equivalent professional tax background
- Broad experience across corporation tax, indirect tax and international tax
- Previous responsibility for managing advisers and tax authority relationships
- Experience supervising or developing junior team members
- Strong technical judgement and the ability to explain complex issues clearly
- A commercially minded approach to tax and business decision-making
- The confidence to manage competing priorities in a hands-on role
- Experience gained within FMCG, retail, consumer goods or another international business would be useful
