Based in Manchester, this is an excellent opportunity for someone who enjoys working closely with business owners, leading and developing staff, and wants to build their exposure to the more commercial and advisory side of accountancy practice.

The Opportunity

As a Client Manager, you'll be responsible for managing a portfolio of SME and owner-managed business clients across statutory accounts, management accounts, tax and wider advisory services. You'll act as a trusted point of contact for clients, ensuring high-quality work is delivered while developing strong relationships and gaining a deeper understanding of their businesses. Alongside your client responsibilities, you'll lead, mentor and develop junior and semi-senior members of the team. This role would suit someone with strong leadership skills who enjoys helping others progress and wants to play an active part in building a successful team.

  • Identifying opportunities to provide additional advisory and commercial support
  • Working with business owners to help them better understand their financial information
  • Managing workloads and ensuring assignments are delivered accurately and on time
  • Leading, mentoring and developing junior and semi-senior members of staff
  • Reviewing work and providing constructive technical feedback
  • Supporting the Partners and senior leadership team with client development and wider projects
  • Helping improve processes, client service and the efficiency of the wider team

What we're looking for

You'll be a qualified ACA or ACCA accountant with strong experience gained within UK accountancy practice. You'll have experience managing client relationships and reviewing accounts and tax work, alongside the confidence to lead and develop people. We're particularly interested in someone who has:

  • ACA or ACCA qualification
  • Strong UK practice experience
  • Experience managing a portfolio of clients
  • Strong technical knowledge across statutory accounts, management accounts and tax
  • Experience reviewing the work of junior team members
  • Proven leadership and people management skills
  • Excellent communication and relationship-building abilities
  • A commercially minded approach
  • The appetite to develop further into client advisory and business development
  • Strong organisational skills and the ability to manage multiple deadlines

What's on offer

This Client Manager role offers the opportunity to take on a genuinely broad position within a supportive and progressive accountancy environment. You'll have significant exposure to clients and business owners, while also developing your leadership skills and building your commercial and advisory experience. The package includes:

  • £55,000 - £65,000 salary, depending on experience
  • A varied and interesting client portfolio
  • Genuine leadership and staff development responsibility
  • Increasing exposure to commercial and advisory work
  • The opportunity to build strong relationships with business owners
  • Ongoing professional development
  • Clear progression opportunities
  • A supportive and collaborative team environment
