We're working with a well-established accountancy firm in London that is looking to bring in a Private Client Tax Manager to join its growing tax team.
This would suit someone who enjoys working closely with private clients and wants a role that goes beyond simply completing compliance work. You'll have the opportunity to take ownership of a portfolio, build strong client relationships and get involved in more interesting advisory work across areas such as IHT, CGT, trusts and succession planning.
The Role
- Managing a portfolio of high-net-worth individuals, families, trusts and private clients
- Taking responsibility for the delivery of personal tax compliance work from start to finish
- Reviewing complex self-assessment and tax computations
- Advising clients on income tax, CGT, IHT and trusts
- Getting involved in tax planning and advisory projects, rather than being purely compliance focused
- Working with Partners and senior members of the team on more complex client matters
- Building and maintaining strong relationships with clients and acting as a trusted point of contact
- Identifying opportunities to provide additional advice and support to existing clients
- Reviewing work produced by junior members of the team and helping to develop more junior staff
- Supporting the wider private client team with technical queries and more complex assignments
The Clients
You'll be working with a varied private client base, which could include:
- HNW and UHNW individuals
- Business owners and entrepreneurs
- Directors and shareholders
- Families and family groups
- Trusts and estates
- Individuals with significant investment portfolios
- Clients with complex UK and international tax affairs
What They're Looking For
Ideally, you'll have:
- Strong experience within Private Client / Personal Tax
- Previous experience at Assistant Manager or Manager level
- Good technical knowledge across IHT, CGT, trusts and income tax
- Experience managing your own portfolio of clients
- The confidence to speak directly with clients and provide practical advice
- Experience reviewing work and supporting more junior team members
- Ideally CTA and/or ACA/ACCA qualified, although strong relevant experience will also be considered
The Opportunity
This isn't intended to be a role where you're simply sat completing tax returns all day.
The firm is looking for someone who wants to develop their advisory exposure, work with interesting private clients and have genuine responsibility for their portfolio. There's also scope to progress as the team continues to grow.
