The opportunity

As an Audit Senior, you'll take responsibility across the full audit lifecycle, from planning and risk assessment through to completion. You'll work with a varied portfolio of clients across sectors including property, technology, hospitality, retail, professional services, logistics and not-for-profit organisations.

You'll be trusted to use your technical knowledge, judgement and professional scepticism rather than simply following a process. For someone who enjoys understanding a business, challenging constructively and helping less experienced colleagues develop, there is plenty of scope to make an impact.

What you'll be doing

• Managing audit assignments from initial planning through to completion
• Performing risk assessments and determining appropriate audit procedures
• Reviewing financial information and assessing accounting treatments with professional scepticism
• Supervising and reviewing the work of junior and semi-senior team members
• Allocating work effectively and providing support and coaching throughout assignments
• Communicating audit progress, issues and recommendations to managers and partners
• Building strong relationships with client contacts ranging from finance staff through to senior management
• Supporting the preparation of tax computations where required
• Identifying opportunities to improve audit processes, working papers and overall efficiency
• Ensuring assignments are delivered accurately, professionally and within agreed deadlines
• Dealing confidently with client queries and providing practical solutions
• Contributing to the wider team through knowledge sharing, training and continuous improvement

What we're looking for

You'll ideally be ACA or ACCA qualified and have around three or more years' audit experience, preferably gained within a UK practice environment.

You should have strong working knowledge of ISAs and FRS 102, alongside a sound understanding of corporate tax and relevant legislation, including the Companies Act 2006.

Just as importantly, you'll be someone who enjoys working with people. The ability to communicate clearly, lead junior colleagues and build confidence within an audit team will be key.

You'll also bring:

• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
• Excellent attention to detail and pride in producing high-quality work
• Confidence challenging accounting treatments where appropriate
• Good organisational skills and the ability to manage competing priorities
• Strong Excel and wider Microsoft Office skills
• Familiarity with accounting software such as Xero, Sage or QuickBooks
• A proactive approach to improving processes and working practices
• The ambition to continue developing technically and professionally

Experience with audit and accounts production software such as CCH ProAudit, Digita or Alphatax would be advantageous, but isn't essential.
