Location: Leeds / Hybrid
Salary: £60,000 - £80,000 + benefits

A leading and growing accountancy firm is looking to appoint an experienced Tax Disputes Manager to join its expanding tax team in Leeds.

The Role

You will manage a varied portfolio of tax disputes and HMRC enquiries, working closely with clients to provide commercially focused advice and achieve the best possible outcomes.

Key responsibilities will include:

• Managing complex HMRC enquiries, investigations and tax disputes.

• Advising individuals and businesses on contentious tax matters.

• Handling HMRC correspondence, information requests and negotiations.

• Supporting clients through settlements, disclosures, appeals and other dispute resolution processes.

• Developing and maintaining strong client relationships.

• Working closely with Partners and senior team members on complex cases.

• Identifying opportunities to support existing clients and contribute to business development.

• Supporting and mentoring junior members of the team.

• Keeping up to date with changes in HMRC policy, legislation and tax dispute procedures.

About You

The successful candidate will have:

• Strong experience in Tax Disputes / Tax Investigations.

• Proven experience dealing with HMRC enquiries and investigations.

• Good technical knowledge of contentious tax matters.

• Strong client-management and communication skills.

• The ability to manage multiple cases and deadlines effectively.

• A commercial and client-focused approach.

• An interest in business development and developing client relationships.

• Previous experience at Manager level, or be ready to step into the role.

Ex-HMRC experience is highly desirable, particularly candidates who have worked within investigations before moving into professional services.
