We are working with a highly respected and long-established accountancy and private wealth advisory firm in London that is looking to appoint a Trust Tax Manager to join their Private Client team. This is an excellent opportunity for a tax professional with strong technical knowledge and a passion for trust and estate taxation to work with an exceptional client base. You will be managing a portfolio of UK and offshore trusts, estates, and high-net-worth individuals, with a focus on delivering high-quality compliance and advisory services.
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage a portfolio of UK and non-UK trusts, estates, and high-net-worth individuals, ensuring timely and accurate tax return compliance.
- Provide expert advice on Inheritance Tax (IHT), Capital Gains Tax (CGT), Income Tax, and trust structuring.
- Liaise with trustees, beneficiaries, solicitors, and other stakeholders on technical and planning matters.
- Oversee the preparation and submission of trust tax returns, R185s, and IHT accounts.
- Identify tax planning opportunities and ensure clients are updated on legislative changes.
- Review junior team members' work, offer coaching and technical support, and help develop the wider team.
- Support partners with complex tax planning matters and bespoke advisory projects.
Ideal Candidate:
- CTA qualified (or equivalent), STEP qualification is highly advantageous.
- Strong experience in trust and estate taxation, ideally from a top-tier or boutique private client firm.
- Deep understanding of UK trust tax law and wider private client tax legislation.
- Client-focused with excellent interpersonal and written communication skills.
- Highly organised and able to manage deadlines, complex client needs, and workflow efficiently.
- Familiarity with trust accounting and tax software (e.g. CCH, Digita, IRIS).
