The role
- As an Accounts and Tax Associate, you’ll help prepare year-end accounts, VAT returns, bookkeeping records and basic tax computations.
- You’ll work closely with senior colleagues, take ownership of sections of work and learn how to spot issues early before files go for review.
What you’ll be doing
- Preparing accounts, reconciliations and supporting schedules
- Working on bookkeeping, VAT returns and Making Tax Digital records
- Reconciling VAT, payroll, turnover and tax balances
- Supporting corporation tax computations and common tax adjustments
- Reviewing Companies House information and filing requirements
- Communicating with clients to request information and handle basic queries
- Identifying errors, older balances or unusual items for manager review
What we’re looking for
- Previous experience in an accountancy practice
- Good knowledge of accounts preparation, bookkeeping and VAT
- Experience with cloud accounting software, ideally Xero
- Awareness of Making Tax Digital and basic corporation tax
- Strong attention to detail and a steady, organised approach
- Confidence speaking with clients and escalating issues when needed
- Studying towards AAT, ACA or ACCA, or qualified by experience
