This role is ideal for an individual who is interested in a mixed tax role that understands that compliance work forms the platform for advisory work, as the role encompasses both. The ideal candidate would have experience dealing with share schemes (both implementation and planning for them, as well as annual reporting) and would look to take ownership of allocated jobs as well as supporting junior team members.
Responsibilities
- Assist with calculations, advice and reporting requirements in respect of share scheme annual reporting (ERS and EMI40 returns);
- Review qualifying status for tax-advantaged schemes, advise on tax implications of providing options to staff/consultants, prepare valuations and undertake the relevant compliance requirements;
- Support the OMB team in all areas of compliance and advisory work across all taxes, principally share schemes and the Enterprise Investment Scheme, but also including income tax, capital gains tax and corporation tax.
- Assist, as required, to prepare tax computations, (corporate, partnership and personal) advisory memos/reports and associated HMRC filings.
- Communicate with clients and attend client meetings. Prepare notes of meetings and ensure actions are followed up.
- Where there are perceived risks, communicate this with the manager to ensure appropriate steps are taken, where relevant propose potential solutions.
- Research technical tax issues and explain findings in a clear and concise manner.
