The successful candidate will be responsible for the accurate preparation of accountancy and audit work on an unsupervised basis, while providing effective support to both Partners and Managers. You will also play a key role in the development of trainees and less senior staff within the team. This position offers a competitive salary of £42,000-£50,000, reflecting experience and expertise.
Key Responsibilities
- Dealing with complex accounting issues as required.
- Ensuring accounts files are complete and ready for review by a Manager or Partner.
- Preparation of management accounts for larger clients.
- Reviewing assistant team members' work, identifying training needs, and providing both positive and constructive feedback.
- Following internal procedures including budgets, accounts preparation processes, workplans, and tracking systems.
- Providing effective support to Partners and Managers by taking on additional tasks and meeting deadlines.
- Maintaining commercial awareness to ensure accounts and audits are completed in a cost-effective manner.
- Preparing corporation tax computations and liaising with the tax team on complex or unusual matters.
- Managing and delegating work to assistant team members, supporting their training and development.
- Carrying out additional duties as required to meet business needs.
- Adhering to Health & Safety policies at all times.
Key Requirements
- Strong communication skills with the ability to liaise confidently with clients and colleagues.
- Good knowledge of accounting disclosures, including FRS102 and IFRS (advantageous).
- Sound understanding of audit regulations for statutory audits.
- Experience preparing Group and Consolidated Accounts (advantageous).
- Strong IT literacy and solid technical accounting skills.
- Excellent written skills for reports and client documentation.
- ACA or ACCA qualified or recently qualified, with at least 5-6 years' experience in practice.
