The Role
We are seeking an experienced Senior Payroll Officer to play a key role in our payroll operations for the Children's division. Reporting to the Payroll Supervisor, you will be responsible for processing accurate and compliant payroll, supporting the wider finance team, and helping to maintain the highest standards of payroll delivery.
What you’ll do:
- Process end-to-end payroll for the Children's division with accuracy and attention to detail
- Handle HMRC submissions, RTI reporting, and year-end processes
- Support the administration of the Teachers' Pension Scheme
- Respond to payroll queries via the payroll mailbox, escalating complex issues where appropriate
- Assist with payroll reconciliations, reporting, and KPIs
- Collaborate with HR and Finance teams to support smooth operations
- Contribute to payroll improvement projects and system updates
What we’re looking for:
- Solid payroll processing experience, ideally within a large or complex organisation
- Strong working knowledge of UK payroll legislation and pension schemes
- Excellent attention to detail and organisational skills
- Proficient in payroll systems and Microsoft Excel
- Professional, proactive, and able to work both independently and as part of a team
- Desirable: Experience with Teachers' Pension Scheme, familiarity with i-Trent, or exposure to supervisory responsibilities
