Build stronger client relationships, not just another set of accounts. If you've reached the stage where you enjoy working directly with clients as much as producing the technical work behind the scenes, this could be the next step. An established accountancy practice is expanding its team and is looking for a Senior Accountant to take ownership of a varied portfolio of owner-managed businesses across Southampton. You'll have the autonomy to manage your own clients while working alongside experienced Partners who are keen to develop people rather than simply delegate work. This is the sort of role where you'll become a trusted adviser, not just another reviewer in the workflow.
Day to day you'll be involved in:
- Preparing and reviewing statutory accounts for SMEs, limited companies and partnerships
- Producing corporation tax computations and supporting wider business tax matters
- Acting as the first point of contact for your client portfolio
- Reviewing VAT returns and management information where appropriate
- Supporting cloud accounting solutions including Xero and Sage
- Coaching junior members of the team and reviewing their work
- Spotting opportunities to improve processes and add value for clients
The experience you'll bring:
- ACA or ACCA qualified, or equivalent experience gained within UK practice
- Strong technical accounts knowledge under UK GAAP
- Experience managing client relationships with confidence
- Previous exposure to reviewing work and supporting junior colleagues
- Commercial awareness and a proactive approach to client service
Why this opportunity stands out:
The firm has built its reputation on long-term client relationships and staff retention rather than rapid expansion at any cost. You'll inherit an established portfolio, work with approachable leadership and have a genuine opportunity to progress as the business continues to grow.
Package includes:
- £55,000 to £65,000 salary
- Hybrid and flexible working
- Structured career progression
- Professional development and ongoing training
- Generous holiday allowance and pension
- Wellbeing support and additional employee benefits
- Modern systems and a collaborative team environment
