A high-growth organisation is looking for a commercially astute Senior Finance Business Partner to join them on an interim basis for an initial 3 to 6-month assignment. This is a rare opportunity to step into a business undergoing significant change, where your expertise in overhead management and process optimisation will be valued from day one. As a Senior Finance Business Partner you will be working at pace in a role that demands independence, initiative, and the confidence to challenge the status quo. This isn’t a traditional FBP position—it’s a transformation-focused assignment where you will be expected to not only deliver the numbers, but actively reshape how financial information is produced, interpreted, and used across the business. Reporting into senior finance leadership, you will operate as the go-to finance partner for non-production cost centres, building credibility with budget holders, unpicking inefficiencies, and implementing smarter ways of working that will outlast your tenure.
Responsibilities
- Partner with heads of department across support functions to provide financial insight, challenge spending decisions, and support strategic planning.
- Own the monthly financial close process for overhead areas, ensuring accuracy and timeliness across accruals, deferrals, and variance reporting.
- Produce insightful commentary that explains performance, highlights risks, and recommends corrective action in language stakeholders understand.
- Take the lead on budget setting and quarterly reforecasting, introducing driver-based logic and scenario modelling where appropriate.
- Conduct a full review of existing overhead reporting frameworks and rebuild them to improve clarity, consistency, and decision-usefulness.
- Standardise reporting templates, automate manual tasks, and establish controls that reduce error and rework.
What we are looking for
- Substantial experience as a Finance Business Partner or Senior Management Accountant with proven track record managing operational expenditure across multiple cost centres.
- Ability to thrive in ambiguity, take ownership without direction, and operate effectively with minimal supervision.
- Strong technical accounting skills with confidence handling month-end processes, building forecasts, and analysing variances at speed.
- Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills—able to translate complex financial information for non-finance audiences.
- Highly proficient in Excel and comfortable working with large, complex datasets.
- Experience using visualisation tools such as Power BI (desirable).
- Background in finance transformation, systems implementation, or process redesign projects (desirable).
- Professional accounting qualification—ACA, ACCA, or CIMA (beneficial but not essential if experience is strong).
What is on offer
- Competitive day rate reflective of the seniority and specialist nature of the assignment.
- Based near a major UK city with hybrid working available after initial onboarding period.
- Genuine autonomy to make decisions, shape processes, and leave lasting impact.
- Business that values pragmatism and progress where recommendations are listened to and acted upon.
- Excellent opportunity for interim professionals seeking meaty assignment with real variety.
- Well-supported engagement ideal for those considering move into interim market.
If you are ready to take on a high-visibility role where your contribution will be felt across the organisation, we would welcome a confidential conversation about how your background aligns with what is needed.
