We’re looking for an Installation & Commissioning Engineer to work on in-property and site based projects, installing, retrofitting, and commissioning Insite Credit and PrePayment metering systems for modern heat networks. You’ll play a key role in ensuring our smart metering solutions deliver seamless performance, reliability, and integration, helping customers and communities use energy smarter and more efficiently.

What you’ll do

  • Install & commission: Deploy Insite IT and PAYG smart metering systems on new build and residential sites.
  • Configure and maintain AMR (Automatic Meter Reading) systems including dataloggers, gateways, routers, repeaters, and IP power devices.
  • Retrofit and rewire existing Credit & PrePayment systems for optimal performance.
  • Maintain & troubleshoot: Diagnose and resolve technical issues with smart metering and RF networks.
  • Carry out scheduled maintenance and respond to callouts.
  • Work closely with third parties, including ISPs, BT, and cloud service providers, to ensure smooth system operation.
  • Provide expert technical advice to internal teams and clients.
  • Deliver hands‑on training to ensure confident, compliant system use and upkeep.

Work environment and schedule

  • Primary Location: Field‑based, mostly across central London.
  • Working Hours: 37.5 hours per week, Monday to Friday working 7.5 hours per day between 08:00 and 20:00. Includes a 30-minute lunch break and two 15‑minute breaks each working day.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Smart Metering Experience: Previous experience with smart metering systems, RF networks, or similar field‑based technologies is preferred.
  • Electrical Experience: 18th Edition, wiring regs and Part P (ideal but not essential).
  • Independent Worker: Confident in working independently with minimal supervision, demonstrating strong problem‑solving abilities.
  • Technical Skills: Competent in the use of laptops/tablets for system configurations and reporting (training provided).
  • Communication Skills: Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for effective client and team interactions.

Additional Requirements

  • Clear Driving Licence: A valid, clear UK driving licence.
  • DBS Clearance: Basic DBS clearance (Disclosure and Barring Service).
  • Work Eligibility: Must be eligible to work in the UK.
  • CSCS Card or equivalent: Hold a valid CSCS card (or be able to obtain one).
