Insite Energy is looking for a motivated and curious Heat Network Compliance Engineer to join our growing team. If you’re eager to apply your engineering knowledge in the field, develop specialist expertise and work directly with clients on innovative heat network projects, this role gives you the perfect platform to grow.
This is a field‑based, client‑facing position where you’ll gain exposure to the full lifecycle of heat network metering, from early scoping and technical surveys through to installation oversight, compliance assurance and ongoing system optimisation.
What you’ll be doing
- You’ll become a trusted technical specialist, supporting the compliant and efficient delivery of metering systems across communal and district heat networks.
- Your work will directly support regulatory frameworks such as the Heat Network (Metering and Billing) Regulations and the upcoming HNTAS scheme.
- Your responsibilities will include:
- Technical audits: Assessing metering systems, accuracy classes and compliance with UK billing regulations.
- RF & communication surveys: Carrying out LoRaWAN signal surveys, validating connectivity and producing coverage heatmaps.
- Scoping & design assessments: Reviewing HIU layouts, riser structures and plant rooms to define metering solutions.
- Project planning: Supporting installation teams with technical briefs, diagrams and commissioning checks.
- Equipment specification: Selecting heat meters, gateways and controllers that meet compliance and integration standards.
- Quality assurance: Validating live systems, monitoring meter health and supporting remediation actions.
- Client engagement: Representing Insite during site visits, consultations and technical discussions.
Working Hours & Location
- 37.5 hours per week, Monday–Friday.
- UK-wide travel with regular site-based work in London and major cities.
- Hybrid working (London or Peterborough office + home working).
- Occasional overnight stays depending on project locations.
