About the role: The Installations & Commissioning Engineer will be responsible for in-property and site-based activities, focusing on the installation, retrofitting, commissioning, maintenance, and troubleshooting of Insite Credit & PrePayment metering systems to support heat networks. This role ensures efficient system performance, compliance with industry standards, and seamless integration with existing infrastructure. Additionally, the engineer will provide technical support, diagnose faults, and collaborate with stakeholders to optimise system reliability and functionality. Key Responsibilities: Installation, Setup, and Commissioning: Install and commission Insite IT and PAYG smart metering systems on construction and residential sites. Configure and maintain Automatic Meter Reading (AMR) systems, including dataloggers, gateways, repeaters, routers, and IP power down plugs. Retrofitting including domestic wiring of pre existing Credit & PrePayment metering systems Ensure all systems are functioning correctly and meet required specifications. Maintenance and Troubleshooting: Diagnose and resolve issues related to smart metering systems, including RF networks and associated equipment. Perform regular maintenance and callouts for field-based IT and PAYG smart metering systems. Liaise with 3rd party providers such as cloud service providers, BT, ISPs, and contractors to ensure smooth operation. Technical Support and Training: Provide technical advice and support to internal teams and external clients. Conduct training sessions to ensure all team members and clients are proficient in system use and maintenance. Work Environment and Schedule: Primary Location: Field-based, mostly across central London, with occasional meetings in the London (WeWork, Moor Place) and Peterborough (Stuart House) offices. Travel Requirements: Available for occasional travel across the UK, including working weeks away from home and overnight stays. Working Hours: 37.5 hours per week. Monday to Friday working 7.5 hours per day between 08:00 and 20:00. Includes a 30-minute lunch break and two 15-minute breaks each working day. Breaks are to be scheduled between jobs, ensuring minimal disruption to work responsibilities. This role requires flexibility and the ability to manage time effectively while balancing fieldwork, office meetings, and travel commitments. Qualifications and Experience: Electrical Experience: 18 th Edition, wiring regs and Part P Project Management Experience: Experience of supporting the delivery of projects on time and withing budget. Independent Worker: Confident in working independently with minimal supervision, demonstrating strong problem-solving abilities. Technical Skills: Competent in the use of laptops/tablets for system configurations and reporting (training provided). Communication Skills: Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for effective client and team interactions. IT Troubleshooting: Good all-around IT troubleshooting skills. Networking Knowledge: Experience with router setup, VPN configurations, and subnetting. Cabling Experience: Cat 5e/6 cabling termination experience. NIEIC qualified: Desirable Technical Proficiency: Competent using a Multimeter, as well as other electrical and IT equipment. Smart Metering Experience: Previous experience with smart metering systems, RF networks, or similar field-based technologies is preferred. Health and Safety Certification: A health and safety qualification is desirable. Additional Requirements: Clear Driving Licence: A valid, clear UK driving licence. DBS Clearance: Basic DBS clearance (Disclosure and Barring Service). Work Eligibility: Must be eligible to work in the UK. References: Two satisfactory professional references. CSCS Card or equivalent: Hold a valid CSCS card (or be able to obtain one). Benefits: Salary: £35,000 – £38,000 per annum, dependent on skill and knowledge level Holiday Allowance: 25 days of holiday per year, plus English bank and public holidays, plus an additional day of Birthday leave.
