We are seeking a highly experienced and detail-oriented Payment Operations Compliance Specialist to join our dynamic Finance Operations team. This role is pivotal in aligning financial processes with industry best practices, using the FCA’s CASS (Client Assets Sourcebook) framework as a guiding benchmark rather than a formal regulatory requirement. It also plays a key part in supporting payment investigations and serving as a subject matter expert (SME) for the wider team. The successful candidate will play a key role in maintaining operational excellence, enhancing financial controls, and developing robust reporting mechanisms to demonstrate compliance and monitor client funds effectively.
Requirements- Safeguarding & Best‑Practice Alignment: Ensure payment operations and controls are aligned with industry best practices, drawing on the FCA’s CASS principles as a benchmark for robust safeguarding standards. Promote a strong culture of operational discipline by integrating industry best practices into day‑to‑day processes, payment workflows, and control environments. Work collaboratively with internal stakeholders to assess, strengthen, and maintain effective controls relating to the handling of client money and assets. Contribute to the development of documentation, procedures, and training materials that reflect best‑in‑class safeguarding approaches informed by CASS guidance and wider industry expectations.
- Operational Excellence: Perform and support daily, weekly, and monthly operational activities related to payment processing and fund monitoring. Identify and implement process improvements to enhance accuracy, efficiency, and control. Maintain documentation and audit trails for payment and compliance activities.
- Reporting & Analytics: Design and build management reporting dashboards to track CASS/Safeguarding compliance and client fund movements. Deliver insightful analysis to senior stakeholders to support decision-making and regulatory reporting. Ensure timely and accurate submission of internal and external reports.
- Proven experience in payments operations and financial compliance within a regulated environment.
- Strong understanding of FCA CASS/Safeguarding rules and their practical application.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with a keen eye for detail.
- Advanced Excel skills and familiarity with financial systems and reconciliation tools.
- Effective communicator with the ability to influence and educate cross-functional teams.
- Experience in process improvement and reporting development is highly desirable.
- Degree in Finance, Accounting, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
- Professional certifications (e.g., ACCA, CIMA) are advantageous but not essential.
- Prior experience in a financial services or payments-focused role is preferred.
