Role Profile

Reporting to the Group Product Manager, the Solutions Engineer is the key point of contact for all global sales enquiries related to technical support within our metrology and inspection applications. The ultimate objective of a Solutions Engineer is to contribute towards generating sales of metrology and inspection products for the Company. Therefore, the successful candidate should have:

  • Good knowledge in metrology and precision manufacturing
  • Technical understanding to install, configure and demonstrate products
  • An understanding and appreciation of the various stages of the sales process
  • Display commercial awareness for converting technical enquiries to sales orders

Role Responsibilities

  • Responding to technical support enquiries from customers and distributors globally
  • Carrying out measurements on samples obtained from customers and prepare inspection reports to help move the sales process forward
  • Along with Sales Engineers, support the preparation and action of product demonstrations
  • When required, support sales engineers during demonstrations in-house, at client sites, shows and events and/or via video conferencing
  • Installation of metrology systems at customers’ premises, providing software and product training to machine operators
  • Working with the marketing team in preparing and sharing application stories in order to keep global sales and support teams up to speed on interesting metrology applications
  • Ensuring the demonstration equipment in showroom is always in excellent working order both technically and cosmetically and raising any issues immediately with product management
  • Support the business through attendance at major national and international trade shows, assisting local sales teams in setting up and dismantling of measuring equipment displayed
  • Contribute to product development by identifying potential improvements to products and new feature ideas
  • Regular national travel and occasional international travel to support customers with product calibration and training

Person Specification

  • Degree, Diploma or equivalent in manufacturing engineering or similar
  • Proven knowledge in metrology, precision engineering
  • Previous experience of installation, calibration, troubleshooting
  • Experience of CMM (Coordinate Measuring Machines)
  • Experience of being customer-facing and commercially aware
  • Previous experience of supporting at demo set-ups, trade shows or events
  • Due to location of office, must have a UK Driver’s License
