Our client is seeking an experienced Mechanical (Tooling) Design Engineer to play a key role in the industrialisation and introduction of cutting-edge submerged products into production. This long-term contract offers the opportunity to lead on defining, designing and validating complex tooling and equipment solutions, ensuring efficient assembly processes that deliver exceptional quality and reliability.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead collaboration with Supply Chain and R&D teams to support the industrialisation of new products.
- Define, design and optimise tooling and equipment, including jigs, lifting fixtures and workstations, for efficient assembly and testing.
- Recommend and implement alternative tooling solutions to improve efficiency, safety and reliability.
- Use Creo CAD to develop and model advanced tooling concepts.
- Present tooling solutions and influence key stakeholders.
- Identify and source external equipment to strengthen production capabilities.
- Manage relationships with tooling manufacturers to ensure delivery, compliance and quality standards are met.
- Inspect and validate new tooling against specification, calibration and inspection requirements.
- Oversee tooling validation and qualification model builds.
Requirements:
- Degree (or equivalent) in Mechanical/Manufacturing Engineering.
- Proven track record in designing tools, fixtures and equipment for complex assembly/manufacturing environments.
- Proficiency in CAD tooling preferred.
- Strong ability to apply reliability engineering judgement.
- Experience with FEA (Ansys) for stress/simulation analysis.
- Significant experience in technical/manufacturing environments, ideally within high-reliability sectors.
- Excellent interpersonal, communication and leadership skills.
