Underwater Signal Research Scientist – Staffordshire – On-Site
Role overview
We are looking for a confident communicator to join a large tech business operating on the global stage, within this role you will join a small team of professionals developing solutions to bespoke problems and analysing complex underwater datasets with a view to influencing the development next generation ship profiles, and ship systems.
Day-To-Day Role Responsibilities
Within this role you will be working on a variety of modelling, scientific and programming tasks across the following areas:
- Magnetic, Electronic, and Electromagnetic modelling and field propagation in conductive and non-conductive media
- Finite Element Analysis and Boundary Element Analysis
- Underwater Analysis of electromagnetic, acoustic, pressure, and seismic signatures
- Numerical and Optimisation Methods
- Modern Control Theory
Experience, Skills, and Knowledge
- Hold a degree, Masters, or PhD in Physics, Maths or a related area
- Strong background with C++ programming
- Experience with some of the following:
- Electromagnetic Modelling
- Vector Fields Finite Element Analysis (FEA)
- COMSOL Multiphysics
- MATLAB or Simulink
- Confidence writing reports and briefs
- Confident communicating findings to technical and non-technical stakeholders
- Occasional travel to alternate sites
