Job Description

Manufacturing Support Engineer (Days/Nights) – up to £50 per hour (Umbrella) + Uplift – London – 2 Year Contract

Primary Purpose:

The Manufacturing Support Engineer will provide technical support for product and test systems troubleshooting and resolving critical manufacturing issues, ensuring smooth production flow while maintaining quality and safety standards. The role requires hands-on electronics analysis, circuit investigation, and problem-solving under time constraints. Additionally, the Engineer will contribute to process improvements, support new product introductions, and train employees in submerged product manufacturing.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide technical support for submerged product manufacturing processes.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve critical manufacturing issues within reasonable timeframes.
  • Ensure compliance with quality and safety standards to maintain high production standards.
  • Analyse data trends and provide feedback to the Senior Control Engineer (SCE).
  • Support new product introductions and ensure seamless integration into production.
  • Work closely with development engineers to implement process improvements.
  • Design and improve test stations by developing simple station interfaces.
  • Train employees working in submerged manufacturing to enhance technical capability.

Essential Qualifications & Experience:

  • Degree in Electrical & Electronic Engineering, Optics, or Opto-electronics.
  • Experience in electronics manufacturing and fault finding.
  • Strong knowledge of electronics circuits and/or optical components.
  • Experience in data analysis, Lean Six Sigma, and automated test processes.
  • Ability to work independently and troubleshoot issues under time constraints.
  • Experience in high-reliability product manufacturing is ideal.
  • Strong teamwork and communication skills.

Shift Pattern: 2-week rotation (Day & Night Shifts)

  • Day Shift: Monday – Thursday, 6:00 am – 4:45 pm (Monday), 6:00 am – 5:15 pm (Tuesday – Thursday)
  • Night Shift: Monday – Thursday, 6:00 pm – 5:45am (first night), 6:00 pm – 5:15 am (remaining nights)
  • 10% uplift on night shifts
