We are seeking a Test & Integration Manager with electronic / optical / hardware industrialisation experience to lead the introduction of complex optical systems into manufacturing. This role sits at the centre of R&D, optical engineering, production, and quality, ensuring that highly complex systems are fully tested, validated, and industrialised for scalable, repeatable manufacturing.
You will be responsible for the design, deployment, and optimisation of automated test systems and production test benches for optical and electronic hardware products.
Key Responsibilities- Lead industrialisation and test integration of complex electro-optical systems (optical amplifiers, transmission systems, photonics modules, etc.)
- Design and deploy production test benches and automated test platforms for new product lines
- Drive NPI readiness from prototype through to high-volume manufacturing release
- Own development of test strategies, validation methods, and test automation frameworks
- Lead CAPEX planning, test equipment procurement, and manufacturing test infrastructure build-out
- Interface with R&D optical engineers, electronics teams, production, quality, and suppliers
- Monitor and improve manufacturing KPIs (yield, test time, quality, reliability)
- Lead PFMEA, FAT/SAT, and technical risk mitigation for production test systems
- Drive continuous improvement in test throughput, yield, and robustness of optical systems
- Provide technical leadership and development of multidisciplinary engineering teams
- Lead a multidisciplinary test & integration team (optics, electronics, software, automation)
- Manage both direct and indirect reports across multiple locations
- Function expected to scale over the next 24 months
- Own capability development, succession planning, and team performance
We are looking for an engineer with real electro-optical / hardware industrialisation experience, not software-only testing backgrounds.
- Electro-optical systems, photonics, fibre optics, or optical communications equipment
- Industrialisation of complex hardware test systems or production test environments
- Building or deploying automated test benches for physical electronic/optical products
- Strong hands-on use of tools such as LabVIEW, TestStand, Python (for hardware test automation)
- Working closely with R&D engineering teams (optics, electronics, RF, or photonics)
- Manufacturing environments with high precision / high reliability requirements
- Degree in Electrical, Electronic, Optical, Mechanical, or similar engineering discipline
- Strong background in Test & Integration / Industrialisation of hardware systems
- Proven delivery of NPI into production environments for complex physical products
- Experience in regulated / high-precision industries (optical communications, aerospace, defence, space, telecom hardware, etc.)
- Industrialising optical transmission systems or photonics-based equipment
- Designing automated production test rigs for hardware products
- Leading test engineering teams supporting manufacturing ramp-up
- Working at the interface of optics, electronics, and production engineering
