Purpose of Role
The Technical Estimator is an experienced Technical professional that works to provide support to the External Sales team. The role brings knowledge and experience to the sales function that are key to securing and delivering successful projects.
Role Responsibilities
- Technical Support – Ensure that all proposals offered by us are technically robust and support our ability to make profitable business decisions.
- Deliver accurate and focused proposals - interpret requirements of Clients and External sales to compile detailed scope of works and costings.
- Be The Primary Responsible Contact Between Customers – Ensure that successful bids are handed over to projects/operations in a uniform manner, while maintaining a clear flow of communication.
- Sub-Contractor Relationship Management – developing a support network of sub-contractors/supply partners to increase our ability to deliver wider solutions.
- Solve Problems - Develop and use well-defined and proven approaches to analyse and solve problems. Analyse and manage risk to reduce customer impact. Act confidently to ensure clients are reassured when facing problems.
- Interact with Projects/Operations and Service Partners - Provide feedback for sales and service purposes and customer issues to area sales, Projects and Operations departments.
Must have a strong technical background and understanding of providing technical estimations within HVAC/AHUs. Must have the natural tendency to discern pertinent information, scrutinise potential risks, and formulate an effective focused approach to sales and estimating. Must be able to maintain the persistency necessary to accomplish tasks and goals, despite challenges and obstacles. Must have the ability to influence and persuade others and state things in a tactful manner. Should have the drive and ability to collaborate with others when making decisions. Should have the tendency to perceive what is necessary to be accomplished and to proceed on one's own.
Company Communication and IT requirements
To provide regular and consistent updates on company CRM software in line with company expectations, including (but not limited to):
- Regular updates and notes on all live opportunities.
- All appointments and other sales activities to be loaded against relevant opportunities or accounts.
- Ensuring all information relating to estimated close dates, project values and other relevant sales data is up to date and as accurate as possible.
To capably use company IT equipment to access, utilise, and respond to live published data and instructions given by line managers/directors. To take personal responsibility for training/improving IT skills to keep up with technology systems in use.
Person Requirements
Level 5 Qualification in relevant subject (NVQ, Diploma, BTEC, Foundation Degree). Strong technical understanding of mechanical ventilation and HVAC, including surveying AHUs. Note: We will provide training on all new company specific software initiatives, however a working knowledge of basic hardware and Microsoft applications (Word/Excel/PowerPoint/Outlook etc.) is a minimum expectation.
