We are seeking an experienced Electronics Design Engineer specialising in High Voltage (HV) design to support the development of subsea power transmission equipment used in critical global infrastructure. This role focuses on the design, validation and optimisation of high-voltage electronics capable of generating up to 21kV DC, ensuring long-life reliability and compliance with international safety standards. Working within a multidisciplinary engineering team, you will contribute to the development of advanced HV power converters and subsystems, supporting the full hardware lifecycle from concept through to qualification.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design and develop high-voltage electronic subsystems for subsea power transmission equipment
  • Assess and resolve HV creepage and clearance requirements in line with IEC 62368-1
  • Develop solutions for HV clearance challenges at system and switching levels
  • Contribute across the full hardware design lifecycle from concept to qualification
  • Conduct HV risk analysis and DFMEA for high-voltage systems
  • Define HV testing strategies, including insulation resistance, withstand testing and partial discharge validation
  • Produce engineering documentation including schematics, specifications, test plans and reports

Required Experience

  • Degree in Electrical or Electronic Engineering
  • Mid to senior Engineering experience in electronics hardware development
  • Strong expertise in high-voltage electronics and power electronics
  • Strong understanding of HV design principles including creepage, clearance and insulation coordination
  • Experience working within regulated engineering environments (e.g. ISO9001)
  • Specialist knowledge of IEC 62368-1 HV safety standards
  • Experience with HV switches and precision measurement circuits
  • Understanding of thermal management for high-power electronics
  • Experience using Altium Designer
  • Familiarity with PLM systems such as Windchill
