The role will be responsible for the planning, delivery and oversight of capital works under the instruction of the CapEx Delivery Manager. Working with the CapEx Delivery Manager, the role will be responsible for managing, reporting and tracking of Capital Projects and strategic oversight of the Project plans for a calendar year. The role will cover a broad range of capital spend including small works up to larger scale, multimillion pound site improvement Projects.
Main Accountabilities
- Work with the facilities team to deliver the capital agenda for Greenwich, considering how activities can meet operational and strategic objectives such as energy saving targets and waste management.
- Oversight and management of Capital Project management and hierarchy of documentation and CDM regulations 2015 where required.
- Focus on Capital spend at Greenwich including production Projects, assisting the Capex Delivery Manager in presenting at monthly review meetings with stakeholders to track financial and delivery performance.
Key Responsibilities
- Track and manage Capital Projects, developing monthly review progress meetings to assist the Capex Delivery Manager.
- Monthly reporting and tracking of financial spend, invoicing and commitments on Projects, escalating variations or changes that may lead to overspend.
- Management and coordination of consultants, specialists and contractors to deliver the Capex program.
- Delivery of accurate and effective Project progress reports accessible across the business.
- Production of dashboards and strategic information to assist the Capex Delivery Manager with high level reporting on program and performance.
- Production of Specification and Project documentation to facilitate the initiation of Projects and feasibilities to support business development and the capital agenda.
- Delivery of directly managed small works/maintenance Projects on time/budget to a high-quality standard.
- Ensure a strong communication strategy/plan is in place between the Site Services and manufacturing teams during the Project process/delivery.
- Effective communication with internal and external stakeholders.
- Support the broader Site Services team to manage holiday/sickness cover when required.
- Regular review of facilities procedures and risk assessments to ensure they remain up to date.
- Induction of contractors where required and reviewing RAMS/H&S documentation for visiting contractors.
- Arrange contractors’ visits and communicate with stakeholders/arranging access.
Planning & Reporting
- Advise the Capex Delivery Manager of any business risks or contractor performance matters that raise concern.
- Provide a weekly Project update for the facilities team report.
- Provide a monthly Project update for the business dashboard report and financial meetings to support the Capex Delivery Manager.
- Plan and coordinate attendance of contractors with the business teams/Manufacturing/Production staff.
- Ensure and report on contractors H&S performance.
- Prepare Project documentation for auditing, highlighting gaps and preparing action plans.
- Organise meetings as required to deliver the capital plan and Project Delivery.
Training
- Site awareness training/induction will be provided along with guidance on company systems.
- Training required to maintain professional qualifications will be provided along with opportunities for developmental training.
QHSE
The Construction Project Manager will be fully responsible for ensuring all activities under their responsibility are carried out in compliance with the prevailing HSE guidance and HSE management principles and protocols.
Qualifications & Experience
- Extensive experience in construction project delivery.
- Competency in RIBA/APM project lifecycle – qualification highly preferred.
- Exposure to a broad range of industries including engineering, with an understanding of engineering terminology.
- Demonstrable experience of managing projects within a PMO interface, filling and record keeping process.
- NEBOSH Construction, IOSH or equivalent level qualification in Health & Safety.
- Detailed understanding of CDM 2015 regulations and small works HSE.
- Strong stakeholder management of multi-decision makers, colleagues, peers and cross functional teams.
- Experience of MS Projects, Primavera preferred.
