I’m currently recruiting for a Senior Structural Engineer to join a Building Structures team based in Cardiff. This is an opportunity for an ambitious engineer to take on a leading role within a busy and growing structures team, delivering a varied portfolio of projects across the UK, with a focus on the South West and Wales.

The role will involve responsibility for the delivery and management of structural engineering design work across multiple projects, working within a collaborative multidisciplinary environment. The team places strong emphasis on innovation, sustainability, ethics and safety across all project work. The position offers exposure to a wide range of sectors including education, commercial, industrial, residential, defence, energy and transportation.

The Role

  • Leading the delivery of structural engineering design on a range of building projects
  • Managing small project teams and coordinating design outputs
  • Acting as a key point of contact for clients, contractors and design teams
  • Producing and reviewing efficient, high-quality structural designs
  • Working across concept, detailed design and construction stages
  • Ensuring compliance with BIM standards, Digital Plan of Work and BIM Execution Plans
  • Supporting and mentoring junior engineers
  • Managing your own workload across multiple projects
  • Contributing to client relationships and identifying future opportunities

You will ideally have:

  • Experience delivering small to medium sized structural engineering projects
  • Experience managing or coordinating small project teams
  • Strong understanding of structural design principles and current design standards
  • Experience designing in common structural materials (steel, concrete, timber, masonry)
  • Working knowledge of structural analysis software such as Tekla Structural Designer and/or Robot
  • Experience taking projects from concept through to construction
  • Strong communication and client-facing skills
  • Ability to make decisions, use initiative and work proactively
  • Working towards Chartered Engineer status (MIStructE or MICE)
