Job Description
Are you a recent graduate with 2 years of work experience as a Power BI developer? Do you have a passion for problem solving and technology? We are looking for bright, ambitious individuals with a background in Mathematics, Computer Science or a related discipline to join our team as a junior functional consultant.
This is a fantastic opportunity to start your career in technology and software delivery. The role centres around the delivery of Power ON which extends Power BI's functionality by providing write back capability.
You will have at least 2 years of experience of working with Power BI (DAX, Power Query, M-Query). You will be passionate about Business Intelligence, eager to learn, comfortable working with data, and motivated to develop practical solutions that address real business problems.
You will work closely with experienced colleagues and client stakeholders to help deliver business use cases gaining hands on-experience in software delivery and data visualisation. You will develop technical, analytical and problem-solving skills in a supportive environment.
The ideal candidate will have excellent communication skills who enjoys engaging with non-technical stakeholders. They will be analytical and a logical thinker. They will have a keen interest in pursuing a career as a software delivery consultant.
Key Responsibilities
Client Engagement & Business Analysis
- Work with experienced colleagues and client stakeholders to understand reporting, analytic and data visualisation needs
- Assist in the delivery of discovery workshops to gather requirements, define use cases, and assess data sources
- Provide support to project leaders with stakeholder management
Solution Design & Implementation
- Design scalable and efficient Power ON solutions, including data models, dashboards, and reports
- Develop datasets, measures (DAX), and visuals to support business insights
- Maintain data accuracy, integrity, and security within the Power BI environment
- Optimise performance of reports and dashboards for a seamless user experience
- Implement Power ON configurations, including workspaces, security, and sharing policies
Effort Estimation & Project Delivery
- Adhere to project budgets and timelines
- Collaborate with project managers to ensure timely delivery
- Develop prototypes and proof-of-concepts to validate solutions before full implementation
- Support UAT (User Acceptance Testing) and gather feedback for refinements
Client Training & Support
- Conduct training sessions for end-users to drive adoption of Power ON solutions
- Provide post-implementation support, troubleshooting, and performance tuning
- Act as a trusted advisor to clients on Power ON strategies and future enhancements
Qualifications
Preferred Qualifications & Experience:
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Mathematics, Computer Science, Data Analytics, Business Intelligence, or a related field
- Experience working with Power BI (Power Query, Power BI Desktop, Power BI Service, DAX, and M Query)
- Data/Statistical analysis experience (e.g. R or SPSS)
- Programming experience beyond simple 'selects' (e.g. SQL, Python, Java)
- Excellent communication and presentation skills for client-facing interactions
- High attention to detail and good organisational skills
- Strong analytical skills able to understand processes, gather and shape requirements, articulate visualisations as wireframes
- Experience with the Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Powerpoint, Outlook)
- Willingness to travel to client sites as needed
Nice to have:
- Microsoft Power BI certification (e.g., PL-300: Power BI Data Analyst)
- Experience of financial reporting, FP&A and Excel modelling
- Knowledge of data model design principles and ETL
- Understanding of Azure services (e.g., Azure Synapse, Azure Data Factory, Azure SQL)
- Knowledge of Power Automate and Power Apps integration with Power BI
- Knowledge of non-Microsoft data sources (Snowflake, Oracle, PostgreSQL, MySQL, Synapse, Big Query)
- Performance optimisation (Partitioning, Understanding of columnar database concept, SQL indexing)
- Troubleshooting (SQL Profiler or other profiler tools, Tabular Editor, DAX Studio, Power BI datasets, RLS security)
