Job Description
Why this role?
We're growing our award-winning in-house legal team and are looking for a Legal Counsel who wants far more than just contract review.
You'll have the opportunity to influence decision-making, contribute to global projects, work directly with senior stakeholders and help shape how legal support is delivered across an international organisation.
You'll be trusted to take ownership, encouraged to bring new ideas and supported by a collaborative team that genuinely enjoys working together.
Based from our Scottish headquarters in Dundee, you'll join a highly respected full-service legal team supporting a global business with colleagues in 18 countries and commercial activity in over 100 countries worldwide.
This is a role for someone who enjoys variety, autonomy and influence.
One day you could be negotiating a commercial agreement, the next supporting a key strategic initiative, advising on data protection matters, helping protect our intellectual property, or collaborating with colleagues across multiple jurisdictions.
- What you'll be doing
- Lead commercial contract reviews and negotiations, providing practical and business-focused advice.
- Partner with colleagues across the organisation as a trusted legal adviser.
- Support the protection and management of our intellectual property portfolio.
- Provide guidance on data protection, governance, compliance and risk matters.
- Help drive the implementation of legal technology and process improvements.
- Spot opportunities to simplify, improve and strengthen the way we work.
- Contribute to cross-functional projects and strategic business initiatives.
- Work closely with colleagues across the UK, Canada, Singapore and beyond.
Qualifications
What we're looking for
We're more interested in finding the right person than ticking every box, but you'll likely bring:
- 2-5 years PQE qualified in Scottish and/or English law - dual qualification would be advantageous but isn't essential.
- Experience across commercial law, data protection, intellectual property, governance or risk.
- Strong relationship-building and stakeholder management skills.
- Sound commercial judgement and a pragmatic approach to problem-solving.
- A curious mindset and the confidence to challenge constructively when needed.
- A desire to understand the bigger picture and contribute beyond the legal function.
- Excellent communication and negotiation skills.
