Trade Settlement Specialist

A leading commodity trading business is seeking a Trade Settlement Specialist to support its finance operations team. This role will be instrumental in ensuring accurate trade invoicing, system integration between CTRM and SAP, and alignment of financial records across internal teams. The position offers a mix of hands-on invoicing, reconciliation, and process improvement responsibilities in a fast-paced trading environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Generate accurate invoices for physical commodity trades and associated costs using a CTRM platform.
- Post invoices into SAP and conduct reconciliations to ensure successful processing.
- Identify and resolve any SAP posting discrepancies or errors.
- Apply sound AP/AR accounting principles to ensure accurate financial entries.
- Collaborate with trading, operations, risk, and treasury teams to ensure financial data accuracy and resolve mismatches.
- Maintain compliance with pricing terms and trade finance instruments (e.g., Letters of Credit).
- Support month-end close processes, including CTRM-to-SAP reconciliations and cash flow reporting.
- Assist with internal audits and strengthen financial control frameworks.
- Drive efficiency through automation and optimization of invoicing workflows.
Cash Desk Support Duties:
- Monitor and reconcile international payables and receivables.
- Handle bank reconciliations and post payments/receipts in SAP.
- Process employee and operational expenses.
- Investigate and resolve transactional discrepancies.
- Maintain payment schedules and review AP processes for accuracy.
Candidate Profile:
- 3–5 years’ experience in finance operations, accounting, or settlements—ideally within a commodity trading environment.
- Strong command of SAP (required).
- Advanced Excel skills (pivot tables, complex formulas, VBA/macros).
- Familiarity with CTRM systems (preferred).
- Solid grasp of AP/AR processes and trade lifecycle accounting.
- Knowledge of commodity pricing and trade finance instruments (e.g., Letters of Credit).
- Accounting certification (ACCA, CPA) is a plus but not required.
- Excellent communicator, detail-oriented, and highly organized.
- Proven track record of identifying and leading process improvement or automation projects.
- Proactive and adaptable mindset with a focus on digital transformation and continuous improvement.
