Local authority in Merseyside currently requires a senior project manager for an initial period of three months (likely to be much longer). We require an experienced senior project manager to develop the pipeline for the 2026 annual programme of improvement for primary schools. The current annual programme comprises approximately 20 projects with a total value of circa £4m and involves a range of schemes including design and refurbishment of internal spaces, services replacement, external repairs, extensions. This role will manage 1 FTE Senior PM and the term consultancy contract.

Responsibilities

  • Lead development of the pipeline for the 2026 programme of improvement for primary schools.
  • Manage the term consultancy contract and a 1 FTE Senior PM.
  • Coordinate design and refurbishment of internal spaces, services replacement, external repairs, extensions.

Qualifications

  • Built environment qualification (e.g., architect/technician/building services engineer/building surveyor)
  • Construction industry Project Management qualification (e.g., RICS)
  • Highly effective communicator, positivity and flexibility
  • Track record of delivery
  • Experienced in education projects and delivering within critical timescales
  • Understanding of public sector processes, DfE funding and Building Bulletins

Contract details

  • £475 a day (Inside IR35)
  • Hybrid working: 2-3 days split
  • Start ASAP
