Purpose:
CTOs are tasked with making executive technology decisions on behalf of the company, including managing a technology budget and making investments to align the company with its vision for its technological needs. You should be a strategic thinker, an effective communicator, and an expert in technological development.
Main Duties:
- Developing the company’s strategy for using technological resources
- Ensuring technologies are used efficiently, profitably and securely
- Evaluating and implementing new systems and infrastructure
- Develop technical aspects of the company’s strategy to ensure alignment with its business goals
- Discover and implement new technologies that yield competitive advantage
- Help departments use technology profitably
- Supervise system infrastructure to ensure functionality and efficiency
- Build quality assurance and data protection processes
- Monitor KPIs and IT budgets to assess technological performance
- Use stakeholders’ feedback to inform necessary improvements and adjustments to technology
- Communicate technology strategy to partners and investors
- Own the CTOaas team and service offering
Key Responsibilities:
- Client Engagement & Strategic Leadership: Operate as the technical executive sponsor for assigned accounts, building trusted relationships with client CIOs, CTOs, architects, and business leaders.
- Understand client business priorities, technology landscapes, and industry dynamics to shape tailored solution roadmaps.
- Translate client strategy into actionable technology and delivery plans in collaboration with internal practice teams.
- Solution Design & Governance: Lead solution architecture and technical design assurance for complex integration and modernisation programmes.
- Ensure proposed solutions are scalable, secure, cost-effective, and aligned to industry best practices.
- Chair technical governance forums and steer client architecture boards as needed.
- Delivery Oversight & Risk Management: Provide technical oversight during the full project lifecycle – from discovery and design to implementation and transition.
- Identify and mitigate delivery risks, performance bottlenecks, and scope creep.
- Act as an escalation point for technical challenges within assigned accounts.
- Thought Leadership & Industry Influence: Actively contribute to the company’s thought leadership by authoring whitepapers, blogs, and position papers on emerging technologies, integration strategies, and digital transformation.
- Represent the company at industry events, conferences, and webinars, delivering keynote presentations or participating in expert panels.
- Collaborate with marketing and sales teams to develop high-impact content that supports brand authority, lead generation, and client engagement.
- Drive internal knowledge-sharing initiatives through leadership briefings, technology roundtables, and innovation forums.
- Build and maintain relationships with analysts, technology partners, and standards bodies to ensure the company stays at the forefront of industry developments.
- Support strategic bid efforts by contributing to technical writing for RFP responses, capability statements, and executive summaries.
- Team Leadership & Collaboration: Work cross-functionally with delivery leads, solution architects, engineers, and commercial teams to align client outcomes.
- Mentor technical teams and contribute to capability development within the organisation.
- Support pre-sales and bid development with technically sound and commercially viable propositions.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
- TOGAF, AWS/Azure Architect certifications, or other enterprise architecture frameworks.
- Knowledge of ITIL, Agile/SAFe, and project or programme management methodologies.
