Lead Legal and Regulatory Advisor London, Hybrid | £58,000 – £65,000 | Permanent A unique opportunity has arisen for an experienced legal and regulatory professional to join a national body responsible for developing and maintaining safety and operational standards across Britain’s rail network. As Lead Legal and Regulatory Advisor, you will play a central role in shaping regulatory policy, advising on key frameworks such as rail safety and interoperability, and ensuring that industry-wide standards are legally robust, practical, and strategically aligned. Key Responsibilities: Provide expert legal and regulatory advice to internal teams and industry stakeholders Lead cross-functional projects relating to standards development and regulatory compliance Translate complex legal and policy concepts for non-technical audiences Contribute to the development of business cases and economic assessments Support the delivery of commercial and strategic programmes Coach and guide team members to build regulatory competence across the organisation Engage with industry stakeholders to ensure alignment, acceptance, and delivery of outcomesEssential Requirements: Degree (minimum 2:1) or equivalent relevant experience Strong legal and regulatory background within the rail or transport industry Experience in developing business cases, impact assessments, or policy papers Strong analytical, problem-solving and decision-making skills Proven leadership, stakeholder engagement, and communication abilities Proficiency in Microsoft Office 365 Ability to adapt in a changing environment and grasp technical subject matter quicklyPackage: Salary of £58,000 – £65,000 (dependent on experience) Hybrid working 28 days’ annual leave + bank holidays Generous pension scheme Annual performance-related bonus
