A fantastic opportunity is available at a leading global supply chain organization for a Food and Safety Specialist. In this role, you will be responsible for developing, implementing, and overseeing Quality Assurance and Food Safety Programmes within the Ingredients division, ensuring suppliers comply with food safety standards, deliver high-quality products, and meet regulatory requirements.
Role and Responsibilities:
- Oversee the onboarding, approval, and monitoring of suppliers and subcontractors in line with global standards, ensuring documentation is appropriate and compliant.
- Investigate supply chain complaints and recommend timely corrective actions in coordination with relevant parties.
- Drive continuous improvement by addressing gaps in supplier and third-party processes, products, and documentation.
- Manage an internal Quality Management System, including audits, risk assessments, performance tracking, and technical documentation.
- Conduct ingredient and logistical risk assessments, ensuring compliance with regional regulations, product safety, and nutritional standards.
- Maintain food safety and quality certifications, and manage the annual internal audit programme with external consultants.
- Stay current with technologies and systems that enhance product safety and quality.
- Prepare quarterly quality performance reports and participate in necessary training.
- Adhere to company policies, Health & Safety regulations, and any management directives.
- Take ownership of personal performance and contribute to achieving team objectives.
Essential Skills and Experience:
- Education: Minimum Bachelor's degree in Food Science, Food Technology, or related technical field.
- Minimum 2 years relevant work experience in the food manufacturing industry (production line/ factory/ QA).
- Knowledge of HACCP (Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Point), Food Safety Plans, GFSI (Global Food Safety Initiative), Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP), Standard Operating Procedure (SOPs), ISO and relevant government regulations.
- Is able to interpret analytical results.
- Advanced communication skills and report writing.
- Strong I.T. skills including proficiency in Excel and Word; Power BI is a plus.
- Personable with the ability to build relationships and communicate with all levels both internally and externally.
Desirable:
- Ability to speak a second language.
- Specialist knowledge in any of the following categories (dairy, grains, sweeteners, fruits, additives, oils, starches, or food packaging material).
