An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Climate Change Manager to join a forward-thinking local authority on an initial 3-month contract with strong potential for extension. This is a senior leadership role responsible for driving climate action across the borough, leading strategic programmes, securing funding and managing a specialist climate team.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the development and delivery of climate strategies, action plans and annual programmes
  • Manage and motivate a specialist climate and sustainability team
  • Act as the lead advisor on climate change matters to senior stakeholders and elected members
  • Secure external funding and develop innovative financing solutions for climate initiatives
  • Build strong partnerships with residents, businesses, community groups and external agencies
  • Oversee climate, energy, retrofit and sustainability projects across the organisation

Essential Requirements

  • Significant experience leading climate change, sustainability or net zero programmes
  • Strong understanding of climate mitigation, adaptation and low-carbon initiatives
