An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced and driven Project Director to lead the successful delivery of complex engineering and construction projects across a range of highly technical sectors, including Food, Pharmaceutical, Logistics, Data Centres, and Advanced Manufacturing. This senior leadership position is responsible for overseeing all aspects of project delivery, from pre-construction through to final handover, ensuring commercial success, programme compliance, safety excellence, and client satisfaction. The successful candidate will be a strategic thinker, an exceptional communicator, and a strong leader with a proven track record in delivering large-scale projects within fast-paced construction and engineering environments.
Key Responsibilities
- Project & Commercial Management
- Take full responsibility for project cost performance and contribution targets.
- Oversee project preliminaries throughout the lifecycle in line with pre-construction agreements.
- Manage variations, extension of time (EoT) requirements, and contractual obligations.
- Review and understand contract amendments and assess commercial implications.
- Lead final account negotiations with both clients and supply chain partners.
- Ensure seamless project close-out and handover, including PC Checklists and Building Control compliance.
- Programme & Delivery
- Ensure robust contract and construction programmes are developed during tender stage.
- Collaborate with Pre-construction teams to ensure all Project Control Systems (PCS) are completed prior to award.
- Monitor PCS implementation throughout project execution.
- Drive value engineering initiatives across all stages of the design process.
- Maintain a strong focus on efficiency, quality, and timely delivery.
- Leadership & Stakeholder Management
- Provide leadership across clients, consultants, subcontractors, statutory authorities, and internal teams.
- Inspire and empower teams to contribute towards business objectives and project success.
- Build strong relationships with external stakeholders and represent the business professionally across the industry.
- Conduct meaningful career development discussions and support succession planning within the team.
- Translate business strategy into actionable departmental plans and objectives.
- Health, Safety & Quality
- Champion a proactive health and safety culture across all project activities.
- Ensure safety remains the highest priority in all decision-making.
- Contribute to the development and implementation of quality strategies and continuous improvement initiatives.
