Overview

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced HSE Director to join a leading engineering contractor delivering major data centre projects across the UK and Europe.

This role will play a key part in driving the successful delivery of an established Health, Safety & Environmental strategy throughout the business. The organisation has already developed a clear roadmap for the future and is seeking a collaborative leader who can work closely with the existing team to deliver that vision.

This is not a role focused on reinventing systems or introducing wholesale change. Instead, the successful candidate will provide leadership, support and direction to ensure the continued implementation of best-in-class HSE standards across a growing portfolio of mission-critical projects.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide strategic leadership across all Health, Safety & Environmental functions within the business

• Support the delivery and implementation of the company's established HSE roadmap and objectives

• Work collaboratively with senior leadership teams, operational managers and project stakeholders to drive continuous improvement

• Ensure compliance with all relevant Health, Safety and Environmental legislation, regulations and industry best practice

• Lead, mentor and develop HSE teams across multiple business units and project locations

• Monitor HSE performance, reporting trends and implementing corrective actions where required

• Promote a positive and proactive safety culture throughout the organisation

• Oversee incident investigations, root cause analysis and the implementation of preventative measures

• Ensure company policies, procedures and management systems remain effective and aligned with business objectives

• Act as a trusted advisor to senior management on all HSE-related matters

• Represent the business during client meetings, audits and external stakeholder engagements

Requirements

• IOSH, CMIOSH or equivalent professional Health & Safety qualification

• Significant experience operating within senior HSE leadership positions

• Proven track record of leading HSE functions within engineering, construction or mission-critical environments

• Previous experience working on large-scale data centre projects is highly desirable

• Strong understanding of UK Health & Safety legislation and regulatory requirements

• Demonstrable experience managing, mentoring and developing high-performing teams

• Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills

• Collaborative leadership style with the ability to influence at all levels of an organisation

• Strong commercial awareness and business acumen
