Senior leadership opportunity to join a global leader in risk management as Syndicate Financial Controller. Lead a small Syndicate Accounting team, owning all aspects of syndicate financial close, regulatory reporting, and control framework governance. This role combines technical accounting excellence with strategic leadership, working directly with the Syndicate CFO and senior stakeholders across a complex Lloyd's operation.
Key Responsibilities
- Own month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close processes for Syndicate, service company, and managing agency, ensuring accuracy and regulatory compliance.
- Manage general ledger integrity, reconciliations, and escalation of complex accounting issues.
- Partner with Syndicate CFO on financial performance and provide senior stakeholder management across functions.
- Ensure compliance with Lloyd's, FCA/PRA, and Group reporting standards with audit coordination.
- Own and develop the Syndicate Financial Control Framework including process documentation and risk matrices.
- Drive continuous improvement in controls, governance, and process automation opportunities.
- Lead finance requirements through system enhancements and data transformation initiatives.
- Lead, mentor, and develop a team.
Requirements
- Qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA) with significant post-qualification experience in Lloyd's market.
- Deep knowledge of Lloyd's market including Xchanging, LCA processes, and regulatory landscape.
- Proven team leadership experience with strong management and mentoring capabilities.
- Excellent technical accounting skills with strong attention to detail.
- Experience working with underwriting, claims, and policy administration systems.
- Advanced Microsoft Office proficiency with ability to drive process improvements.
- Strong communication skills with ability to interact at all levels.
- Self-motivated with ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Oracle ERP experience, knowledge of CMR/MDC, Lloyd's reporting forms (FCA/PRA), and data transformation project experience.
