Insight Investment is looking for an Application Infrastructure Services Analyst to join the team in Manchester. The Application Infrastructure Services Analyst will support core application infrastructure and batch operations. You will become a point of contact with regards to all scheduled processing (both in production and test environments) including intra-day and overnight batches, messaging to third parties, automated file transfers, data loading and processing for various data warehouses, reporting services and user facing applications.
Role Responsibilities
- Prioritise issue resolution based on business risk
- Ensure that the incidents and problems are owned from notification to closure
- Maintain regular contact with technical and non-technical users during the lifetime of an incident or problem
- Undertake small scale development tasks, primarily creating checks and automation and data reconstructions
- Participate in or run relevant meetings, e.g. including team ceremonies, root cause analysis, long running problem handover, etc.
- Ensure that the Incident and Problem Management process is followed
- Establishing, sharing and follow operational procedures and controls
- Participate in an overnight on-call rota when major issues occur
- Participate in formal skills assessments at regular intervals to gauge your current level of knowledge and what you need to learn next
- Complete specific training material (technical and domain knowledge) in accordance with our career development framework and training plan
Experience Required
- Self-starter with the confidence to assess, identify, create, and deploy resolutions in time critical scenarios
- Understanding of cloud platforms (e.g. AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud)
- Basic knowledge of databases (e.g. SQL, PostgreSQL)
- Understanding and practiced in SQL scripting including Stored Procedures
- Familiar with N-tiered applications, preferably in a .NET or Java environment
- Basic business application knowledge and some understanding of automated processes, how they integrate/interface with other applications, the infrastructure and/or desktop environment on which they are hosted and how they are used by the business
- Familiarity with version control systems like Git
- Understanding of messaging protocols, IBM MQ and SFTP
- Ability to work under pressure and always remain professional
- Ability to communicate well, both in writing and face-to-face
- Strong problem-solving and analytical skills
