We are looking for a talented Regulatory Reporting Development Business Analyst to join us as we continue with our mission to digitise our investment process that will be critical to our technology transformation. As a Regulatory Reporting Development Business Analyst your primary focus will be to carry out functional and data analysis across Regulatory Reporting, support the design and development activities and lead the testing phases through to solution implementation. You will collaborate closely with regulatory reporting (Ops), compliance teams, and fellow technology colleagues to ensure that reporting processes are efficient, accurate, and compliant with regulatory requirements.
Our continued growth will enable us to keep up with the demand for innovative technical solutions to meet the needs of our growing business. Regulatory Reporting Development are an agile product team that consists of business analysts, SQL developers and VRS developers who are responsible for a mix of project, business as usual requests and ad‑hoc production and data issues. We are responsible for analysing and developing solutions for business applications mainly involving: Markit‑EDM (ETL & data flow tool), RDM (Insight’s reporting data mart), Control‑M (Job scheduler), RDM Reveal (an in‑house MS Excel add‑on), Vermilion (VRS via FactSet), Tableau & QlikView (BI tools). The successful candidate will be trained on any data tools they haven’t used previously.
The team supports the business team’s IT development requirements, leveraging the data and systems architecture deployed. The platform’s output aim is to deliver accurate, complete, reliable and comprehensive trade, regulation, investment and market data for our internal reporting team and clients. Our Regulatory Reporting vision is to create an efficient, scalable and value‑add regulatory reporting platform that meets the requirements of the Regulatory Reporting Team, regulators and clients across all product streams, now and in the future.
Role Responsibilities
- Work with the product owner and the business to develop and detail the Regulatory Reporting product backlog in the form of Epics and Stories.
- Help the business & product owners and teams to prioritise work.
- Act as the communication channel between product owners, business owners and the Agile delivery team you work within.
- Build and maintain a good working relationship with the business representatives, working across teams and multiple sites.
- Engage with key stakeholders, users and user representatives to establish business drivers and derive functional requirements.
- Help develop solutions in accordance with Insight standards and deliver solutions that meet the existing Insight change management processes.
- In addition to BAU, work with Business Change on Regulatory Reporting project deliveries.
- Lead the data and systems analysis activities within the project, identifying the requirements, potential solutions and resulting impacts.
- Formalise the results of data and systems analysis into structured documentation and obtain approval from the key stakeholders.
- Carry out data analysis to identify data requirements, detailing the requirements and mapping back to a valid source.
- Work with IT colleagues to create specifications including data definitions / mappings.
- Lead the data, system and integration testing activities for assigned changes using the acceptance criteria as the basis for test scripts and execution.
- Facilitate UAT testing and the release of solutions and ensure adequate handover of developed solutions to support teams using the internal change and release management procedures.
- Maintain detailed documentation of regulatory reporting processes, data lineage, and system configurations in accordance with internal policies and regulatory requirements.
- Ensure compliance with FCA/PRA guidelines, ESMA directives, and other relevant regulatory mandates governing data management and reporting practices.
- Stay abreast of regulatory developments and changes impacting the UK & US asset management industry.
- Assess the impact of regulatory updates on existing reporting processes and systems and collaborate with stakeholders to implement necessary enhancements and adjustments.
- Simple incident & problem management as it pertains to our reporting platform including working with developers on fault finding and bug fixes as they arise.
- Root‑cause investigation of reporting issues.

It is about identifying why a regulatory issue occurred, what control failed, and what needs to change (system, data, process, or behaviour) to prevent recurrence — all within a highly audited regulatory environment. Please note this list is not exhaustive and you will be required to undertake further tasks in order to ensure business needs are met.
Experience Required
- Experience of working in an asset management or financial services organisation, with an understanding of business activities such as trade processing, valuation, risk management, different asset types, portfolios, positions & holdings.
- Strong working knowledge of regulatory reporting across ESMA, FCA, CBI, US and ASIC jurisdictions, including (but not limited to) PPF, CTI, MMFR, EMIR, MiFID II and SFTR.
- Solid understanding of the full trade lifecycle, OTC derivatives, reporting operations and financial reporting processes.
- Practical experience working with XML (ISO 20022 standard), XSLT and advanced Excel.
- Hands on experience collaborating with reporting venues (UnaVista and DTCC).
- Knowledge of regulatory validations, T+1 reporting challenges.
- Skilled in collecting and interpreting data, analysing results to identify patterns and trends in structured and unstructured data sets.
- Experience of working with data orientated requirements, including a good understanding of data modelling, mapping and workflow.
- Good working knowledge of Microsoft SQL Server or similar RDBMS (querying, defining and manipulating) data warehousing, data marts & ETL.
- Proficient with technical tools and technologies including SQL, XML, Vermillion Reporting Suite, QlikView, Markit EDM and Control‑M (Training provided, where experience is limited).
- Azure & Snowflake experience desirable.
- Experience of working in Agile delivery teams using Scrum or Kanban.
- Detailed working knowledge of different approaches for formalising business requirements to provide detailed, unambiguous definitions of business needs.
- Able to apply suitable analytical approaches to requirements discovery, documentation and solution delivery.
- Able to produce functional requirements in the form of user stories with robust acceptance criteria focussing on business outcomes.
- Work collaboratively with developers in refining stories to design and document deliverable solutions to support processes, standards and delivery requirements.
- Able to work with incomplete information when determining business solutions taking into account relevant dependencies, timing and constraints.
- Proven experience of producing test strategies, test plans and test scripts.
- Experience of execution of system, integration and acceptance test phases.
- Knowledge of data quality and governance approaches.
- Software development experience in a commercial environment with exposure to all phases of the software development lifecycle.
- Excellent stakeholder engagement and management skills and able to effectively communicate at a level and depth appropriate to the audience.
- Comfortable working with remote stakeholders and colleagues using collaboration technology.
