Insight Global are seeking a Senior Developer to design, develop, enhance, debug, support, maintain, and test payments technology applications that underpin a portfolio of global payments programmes.
These include ISO 20022 migrations (CHAPS, TARGET2, SWIFT CBPR+), real‑time payments enablement, modernisation of payment engines/integration layers, and regulatory or scheme‑driven delivery across multiple regions.
The Senior Developer will be a seasoned technologist contributing to the design and implementation of high‑throughput, mission‑critical services, including the message transformation and mapping layer that sits between internal payment engines and external schemes.
This role does not manage direct reports but plays a key part in engineering delivery, cross‑team collaboration, and maintaining high standards of code quality, reliability, and technical execution.
- The applicant must have the following
- 10+ years hands‑on Java/J2EE Development, microservices, REST APIs, and event‑driven architecture.
- Experience working with payments systems, middleware or payment messages (CHAPS, TARGET2, SWIFT, RTP, ISO 20022).
- Hands‑on experience with a financial message transformation/mapping tool such as Trace Financial Transformer (or equivalent, e. g.
Volante, Bottomline), including building and maintaining message mappings and validations for MT-MX or ISO 20022 conversion.
- Solid understanding of XML/JSON structures and message mapping/transformation.
- Experience with Mule ESB or equivalent middleware, messaging tools, and Kafka.
- Strong understanding of Agile delivery, CI/CD pipelines, and Dev Ops practices.
- Skilled in unit/integration testing frameworks (JUnit, Cucumber/Litmus).
- Good communication skills and ability to collaborate in multi‑team delivery environments.

- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related technical discipline.
- Certifications related to Java, Cloud, Kafka, Mule Soft, or SAFe.
- Direct experience deploying Trace Transformer mappings into a live integration architecture (Java, . NET, RESTful or Camel), rather than mapping‑tool exposure alone.
- Experience with Web Logic/JBoss or other enterprise application servers.
- Background in payments platform modernisation or event‑driven systems.
- Familiarity with operational resilience or highly regulated technology environments.
