Responsibilities

  • Thawing and recovering primary cells from donors
  • Maintenance of primary cell cultures
  • Freezing and banking primary cells
  • Registering and tracking samples, including using an internal database for Human Biological Samples
  • Coordinating requests for cell supply
  • Seeding and maintaining Transwell plates for ALI (Air-Liquid Interface) cultures, including microscope evaluation of cell differentiation
  • Creating and completing electronic notebooks for data capture
  • Being aware of relevant safety risk assessments and processes
  • Flow cytometry analysis of cultures
  • Using automation for plate creation and maintenance
  • Co-culturing ALI Transwell plates

This role is located in Stevenage, UK and will be fully onsite.

Must haves

  • B.A / B.S with 4+ years related experience
  • Hands-on experience with cell culture techniques, especially with primary cells
  • Strong understanding of sterile technique and contamination control
  • Ability to work independently and manage long-term culture timelines

Nice to have

  • Experience with cell culture miniaturization and small-scale assays
  • Familiarity with ALI systems and transwell-based culture formats
  • Knowledge of respiratory biology or lung-derived cell models
