Insight Executive Group are currently recruiting for an experienced Engineering Supervisor to join a well-established facility and building services operation in South East London. This is an excellent opportunity for a technically strong and hands-on engineering professional with experience across mechanical and electrical building services to lead a team of engineers and oversee the delivery of planned and reactive maintenance.
The Role
As Engineering Supervisor, you will take responsibility for the day-to-day management and coordination of an on-site engineering team. You will work closely with senior operational and facilities management teams to ensure maintenance activities are delivered safely, efficiently and to a high standard.
Key responsibilities include:
- Lead, supervise and support a team of on-site engineers
- Oversee planned preventative maintenance (PPM) and reactive maintenance across M&E and building fabric systems
- Coordinate daily engineering activities and prioritise service requests
- Ensure compliance with Health & Safety legislation, Safe Systems of Work and Permit to Work procedures
- Carry out routine audits and ensure maintenance records and compliance documentation are accurately maintained
- Manage and coordinate subcontractors and specialist suppliers
- Monitor the quality and completion of maintenance works
- Support engineer performance, training and professional development
- Provide a hands-on engineering presence when required
- Work closely with senior management to maintain operational, technical and compliance standards
Candidate Requirements
The successful candidate will ideally have:
- HND, NVQ or equivalent qualification in Electrical, Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline
- Strong practical experience within building services, facilities management or plant engineering
- Experience supervising or leading a team of maintenance or building services engineers
- A strong understanding of planned and reactive maintenance
- Experience working with electrical and/or mechanical systems and associated plant
- Knowledge of Health & Safety, Safe Systems of Work and Permit to Work procedures
- Strong contractor and subcontractor management experience
- Excellent communication, organisational and leadership skills
Highly Desirable
- Previous experience as an Authorised Person (AP) in disciplines such as LV, Mechanical Services, Confined Spaces, Boiler and Pressure Systems or similar
- 18th Edition Wiring Regulations
- Initial Verification and Certification qualification
- IOSH Managing Safely
- ILM membership or leadership qualification
- Emergency First Aid qualification
- Experience within a complex, large-scale or critical facilities environment
